Griffith is celebrating being the “Official University Partner” of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games
Griffith University in Australia is offering 250 internships and a number of scholarships to international students from commonwealth nations to mark the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018).
The Commonwealth nations comprise of 53 countries. India is the largest commonwealth population followed by Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh, the UK and South Africa.
Bachelor of Exercise Science student, Louisa Marmion, said the Games will provide a unique opportunity for students.
“It means students from Griffith University have the opportunity to graduate with more than just a piece of paper but with the first line of their resume already completed,” she said.
Griffith will allow its campus facilities to be used in the lead up and during the Games.
The university will also contribute to the creative arts programme, putting it in the running to contribute to the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games.
The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games will run in April 2018 and is the biggest sporting event in Australia this decade.
Griffith University is located in South East Queensland on the east coast of Australia and is spread across five campuses. It is home to over 43,000 students from more than 130 countries.
